Plasma activation :
Surface tension modification by crystalline structure reorganization

Process description

The piece to treat is placed in the work chamber. Inside, a glow discharge of ionized gas is excited and maintained by a High Frequency generator. The plasma is a mixture of electrons, ions, photons, radicals …when a piece is immersed inside, the surfaces react with the different active species.
The action of a plasma on a surface can lead to several reactions :

Surface structure modification

Grafting of chemical bonding favouring mouillability and interfacial attraction

New chemical bounding creation by splitting molecular chains

Plasma

Equipment
Cleaning in line system for surfaces activation

Several techniques can be configured :

Glow discharged treatment

Post glow discharged treatment

The following parameters allow to optimized the process :

Time processing

Pressure

Gas flow rate

Excitation frequency

Power

Conveyor

The process advantages

Environment friendly process : no chemical solution utilized

Homogenous treatment process allover the sample

High production cadency

Low exploitation costs

Adaptable with every materials : textile, metals, synthetic resin, glass...

Usable even for complex samples shapes : the gas penetrate everywhere.

Applications

Finishing treatment after chemical treatment

Sterilization

Elimination of photoresist resin, superficial etching on printed circuit

Cleaning and treatment of all types of electrical contacts

Surface state modification for molded pieces

Surface preparation before sticking to enhance the adherence
